On mishearing myself in a dream
I had a dream last night in which I bumped into a friend in a shop. She said she’d just come from a new women’s yoga studio called HerLimberLimbs.
‘Hurlimbalims?’ I said, not understanding what I’d just heard.
‘Her Limber Limbs,’ she said slowly and clearly.
‘Oh! Right,’ I said. ‘Good name.’
Isn’t that a strange thing? How did I manage to mishear in a dream? I can vividly recall the moment when my friend said the words, and it was exactly like a mishearing in real life. And as soon as she repeated it, the memory of the original sounds made sense. How did one part of my brain invent a name for a yoga studio that genuinely makes sense, and another part of my brain mishear it?
Anyway, I report this mainly because I’ve become afraid of posting on my own blog, and I’d like to overcome that. So, here we are.
