Last night I went to the Mahogany Bar at Wilton’s Music Hall. It was well hidden but very well worth finding. Apparently, it was one of the first music halls and its bar was the first of London’s sumptuous high Victorian pubs. The bar itself was particularly spectacular, though no one knows what it was made of.
The building was derelict for a long time, but has now been cleaned up and re-opened. It is beautiful.
They also have a spectacular barmaid, who looks exactly like the Second World War poster advertising the Women’s Land Army.
In short, go there. Actually, don’t go there. I want to have it all to myself.
